The Coral explore seasonal shadows on ‘She Died On Christmas Day’
The Coral release ‘She Died On Christmas Day,’ their first-ever Christmas song and first new music since 2023, out now via Run On Records in association with Modern Sky UK. The track arrives with a limited-edition 7″ titled Christmas On Coral Island ft. The Great Muriarty.
‘She Died On Christmas Day’ finds The Coral diving into haunted storytelling with eerie vocals and swirling organ lines. The single channels their fascination with mid-century crooners who mixed festive tones with stories of loss. It’s a filmic, sinister holiday track that enhances their psych-leaning, narrative-rich catalog.
The band’s Nick Power says:
“We love fifties and early sixties rock n’roll, especially the British stuff. To us, it’s the sound of where we grew up: New Brighton and the fair, the lost piers, the thrill and danger of towns at the end of existence. If there’s an opening where we get to explore that side of us, we’re always up for it.”
‘She Died On Christmas Day’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
We’ve covered The Coral previously: ‘Faraway Worlds,’ ‘The Sinner,’ ‘Oceans Apart,’ ‘Drifter’s Prayer,’ and ‘Wild Bird.’
