Produced by: Modern Medicine

Following up on her sophomore release in 2021, Daughter Language, Lauren Lakis has unveiled her highly anticipated third album, A Fiesta and a Hell. The Baltimore-born artist has further honed her distinctive blend of dark rock and shoegaze, tailored to resonate with a broader and discerning audience. Produced by Modern Medicine, this latest album offers a captivating fusion of lush sonic landscapes and evocative vocals, characteristic of the shoegaze genre.

Recorded in Austin, Texas, A Fiesta and a Hell features three standout singles: ‘Take My Hand,’ ‘Terror Tears,’ and ‘Leave Your Window Open.’ The album’s second track and lead single, ‘Take My Hand,’ reflects Lakis’s journey of letting go and embracing new perspectives. It embodies the theme of forgetting preconceived notions and courageously exploring the unknown.

Notably, ‘Terror Tears,’ the second single from the album, fearlessly confronts media manipulation and governmental inconsistencies. Pulsating with an 80s punk/goth rock-inspired beat, enveloped in reverb-soaked guitars and vocals, this track serves as a rallying cry against the aforementioned societal forces.

Reflecting on the album, Lakis shares:

“‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’ There is no better way for me to describe the past few years. In this time, I’ve grappled with intense grief, personally and for the collective, and anger that sometimes borders on rage. It’s hard to be a loving, open-hearted person in a world that can be so cold and alienating. Many facets of life have felt devoid of warmth and care; many people have felt devoid of warmth and care. And yet, because you can’t have hell without heaven, I’ve been simultaneously shown unconditional love on a scale I’ve never before experienced, too. We truly cannot have light without the dark; words to remember when the world is at its most bleak.”

A Fiesta and a Hell is set to release on October 6th, 2023, via Green Witch Recordings. Fans are encouraged to catch Lakis on her current tour of Texas and California for an unforgettable live experience.
