East London’s ethereal duo, Still Corners, invites listeners to unravel the enigma of their latest single, ‘The Dream,’ a mesmerizing precursor to their upcoming sixth album, Dream Talk, slated for release on April 5th, 2024, through Wrecking Light Records.

In ‘The Dream,’ Still Corners delivers a seductive and romantic narrative, drawing inspiration from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The track unfolds with driving guitar hooks, rhythmic beats, and Tessa Murray’s melodic vocals, creating a musical landscape akin to a night train racing through a desert. The journey, encapsulated in the lyrics “we are on a night train, heading to the east end,” explores the depths of dreaming within a dream.

Regarding the accompanying music video, Tessa Murray shares:

“The video is based on our deep love of mystery novels and cosy crime fiction. I play a new character called Penelope Braithwaite as she investigates the ‘Mystery of the Repeating Dream.’ Folks from the fictitious town of Reverwood, Sussex have been falling into a repeating dream trap; when they wake up, they realise they are, in fact, in the same dream. Penelope arrives at a mysterious house to investigate. Does she solve the mystery, or is she also stuck in a looping dream? That’s for you to find out.” Beautifully filmed in the English countryside by the band, featuring steam trains and a dilapidated mansion set in vast gardens, this detective story is not to be missed!”

Still Corners’ forthcoming album, Dream Talk, promises to be an elegant and wistful creation that emerged from a dream-like state, shaped by fantasies, dreams, and automatic writing. Recorded across studios in the south of France, East Sussex, and Woodstock, New York, the album promises to possess a focused, stylish, and seductive sound. Tessa Murray reflects on the creative process, stating, “I had tapped into something new, and the way it came out was quite hypnotic, like a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep.”

‘The Dream’ is out now. Dream Talk is slated for release on April 5th, 2024, through Wrecking Light Records.
