Mighty One releases emotionally charged debut single/video, ‘Wake The Dead’
Indie duo Mighty One unveils their inaugural single, ‘Wake The Dead,’ marking their grand entrance into the music scene.
Comprised of the songwriting duo of Emma Kingston and Mark Stidson, Mighty One emerges with a distinctive sound forged from a blend of 90s-inspired guitars and electronics, interwoven with ambient soundscapes and emotive vocals. Drawing comparisons to iconic acts like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National, and Phoebe Bridgers, the duo brings a unique sonic tapestry that reflects their individual experiences.
Their debut single, ‘Wake The Dead,’ serves as a testament to Mighty One’s meticulous craftsmanship, co-produced by the duo and the Mercury Prize-winning producer Rob Ellis. Recorded across their home studios and Bert Jansch Studio in Frome, engineered by Dom Monk, mixed by TJ Allen, and mastered by Guy Davie, the track encapsulates a richly layered and emotionally resonanat composition.
Reflecting on the essence of ‘Wake The Dead,’ the band elaborates:
“It’s a bittersweet yet uplifting anthem that delves into the complexities of regret, embracing a sound reminiscent of Sharon Van Etten meeting The National.”
