Mabe Fratti’s latest singles ‘Kravitz’ and ‘Pantalla Azul’ showcase postmodern dedication
Mabe Fratti, the Guatemala-native, Mexico City-based artist, has announced her upcoming album, Sentir Que No Sabes, set to release on June 28th, 2024, via Unheard Of Hope.
Ahead of the album’s release, Fratti treats us to two singles: ‘Kravitz’ and ‘Pantalla Azul.’ Each track offering a glimpse into the eclectic and emotionally resonant world Fratti creates within her music.
‘Kravitz’ kicks off with a plucked cello bassline, setting the stage for a sonic journey through the bustling streets of a city. The track’s clever use of brass stabs and other eclectic elements paints a vivid picture of urban life. Fratti dives deep into the meaning behind the song, reflecting on the ambiguity of external influences and the struggle to discern their origins.
As she aptly puts it:
“It’s a song about the sensation of not knowing where the opinions come from…”
On the other hand, ‘Pantalla Azul’ takes a more introspective turn, slowly building from a delicate opening to a powerful, melodic climax. Fratti reveals the inspiration behind the track, citing experimentation with effects and a collaborative effort with her partner, Héctor Tosta, as key elements in its creation. The song’s lyrics touch on themes of uncertainty and embracing the enigmatic aspects of life, drawing parallels to the blue screen errors of outdated technology.
