Lip Filler return with their second single of 2023 ‘Monster Truck.’

London five-piece Lip Filler have announced their debut self-titled EP. Produced by St Francis Hotel (Greentea Peng, Wasia Project, Michael Kiwanuka) the project will be released on May 4th via Chess Club Records.

Speaking more on their upcoming debut EP, the band said:

“The EP is something that none of us could have done individually and something that we could have only done through working together. We’re each other’s therapists and worst enemies at the same time – like a dysfunctional family. We constantly second-guess and challenge each other, but we’ve come to this EP which is the result of all this attempted negotiation.”

The single finds the band taking influence from 90s grunge and noughties indie-pop before concluding with stadium-sized indie rock.

Here’s the band discussing the track:

“‘Monster Truck’ is the first song we wrote that tells a story from the perspective of a character. It’s a take on American high school culture we derived from films like Napoleon Dynamite. The song’s written from the perspective of an awkward high school teen who has a crush on their next-door neighbour.”

‘Monster Truck’ is available today. Lip Filler will be out May 4 via Chess Club Records.
