Good Cop Bad Cop unveils ‘Running Away With The Circus’ – A sonic escape from adulting realities
Sheffield’s musical luminary, Good Cop Bad Cop, sends a rallying cry against the relentless grind of adult life with their second single, ‘Running Away With The Circus,’ off the eagerly anticipated album Welcome To The Marble Zone.
‘Running Away With The Circus’ emerges as a poignant anthem capturing the unyielding demands of 21st-century adulthood. Joe Carnall Jnr, the visionary behind Good Cop Bad Cop, paints a sonic landscape that beckons listeners to step away from the chaos and embrace the surreal escape of the circus. The track blends Carnall’s Bernard Sumner-inspired vocals with a pulsating beat reminiscent of LCD Soundsystem, creating a compelling fusion of influences from Kraftwerk to Baxter Dury.
“Over the past few years, I’ve been intrigued by the soundclash of guitars and electronic music, as I found myself listening to a lot of New Order whilst writing the record. Aside from the obvious ‘hooky’ bass lines and 808-inspired drums, I became a little obsessed with Bernard Sumner’s vocal melodies and deliveries, which is abundantly clear on ‘Running Away With The Circus’.”
‘Running Away With The Circus’ not only marks a sonic departure for Good Cop Bad Cop but serves as a timely reminder to break free from the mundane. Out now via Count To Ten Records, this single is a tantalizing taste of what awaits on the forthcoming album, scheduled for April 5th, 2024.
