George Gretton releases ‘Morning’ (feat. theMind), a soothing new track about wasting the day away.

Nottingham-based George Gretton has released his first single of 2022, ‘Morning’ (feat. theMind). The track is a magical song about the importance of taking some time out of the day for yourself and how that moment can unexpectedly evolve and take over the entire day.

Here’s George reflecting on the inspiration for the track:

“‘Morning’ is about taking some time to be a bit of a recluse, but it just turns a depressing run of days where you don’t do anything or go anywhere. The days roll into each other, you do nothing, and it makes you feel even less motivated and more sorry for yourself. A bit of a vicious cycle.”

The track features Philadelphia-based alternative, R&B, and hip-hop artist theMind. For his feature, the theMind speeds things up a little and delivers a striking verse punctuated by his self-loathing lyrics. George highlights what he was expecting and how it contracted with what theMind actually delivered:

“I wanted to get theMIND on a song for ages – he’s one of my favourite artists that I’ve come across over the last 5 years. I feel honoured that he was up for being involved. He’s usually really melodic, but when he came back with this rapped verse it was so perfect.”

‘Morning’ is set to be the opening track from George Gretton’s upcoming EP, Ordinary Life (release date TBD). ‘Morning’ is available everywhere now via Mammal Sounds Records.
