Buzzy London newcomers Flat Party release new single ‘I’m Bored, Give Me Love’
Led by Jack Lawther and guitarist/vocalist Rory O’Rourke, the pair met while studying in Bath and eventually moved to London, where the long-held vision for Flat Party sprang to life.
Buzzy London newcomers Flat Party have released their new single, ‘I’m Bored, Give Me Love,’ along with an entertaining flat-party-themed video directed by the band’s drummer Zander Hearn. The track teases their forthcoming first larger body of work, due to surface in 2024 on Submarine Cat Records, and arrives ahead of their first UK headline tour in November and December.
A rollicking 3-minute blast that switches gears between ebullient art-pop and searing indie-rock, ‘I’m Bored, Give Me Love’ was produced by renowned London producer Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Black Country New Road, Sorry).
Of the new single, the band’s lead vocalist Jack Lawther said:
“The inspiration for ‘I’m Bored’ came about when we were all still at university, and I was down in Brighton visiting friends (possibly for pride). Around this time, I was dealing with my first breakup and drinking a lot and I fancied a bartender at one of the pubs we were at. I was also completely clueless as to what to do with this feeling, so I just kept getting more drunk and that was basically my night. Musically the song came about very quickly, I must’ve written it in about twenty minutes or so, which is probably the reason it turned out pretty loose and scrappy. It’s really not that deep, it’s just a horny song for horny people.”
