London-based indie-risers Flat Party have announced their self-titled debut EP will be released digitally and on 12″ vinyl on January 19, 2024, via Submarine Cat Records. Wrapping flamboyance, humor, and complicated emotions around urgent indie rock, the band’s upcoming debut EP was recorded and produced by Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Black Country New Road, Sorry) at Battery Studios in northwest London.

Flat Party mark the EP announcement with the release of their new single ‘Glances In The Dark’ today, arriving ahead of the band’s first UK headline tour in November and December.

Channeling genuine betrayal through abstract storytelling, ‘Glances In The Dark’ is accompanied by a video directed by the band’s drummer Zander Hearn.

Speaking on the single guitarist Rory O’Rourke said:

“‘Glances In The Dark’ began as an old demo from ages ago that I stumbled upon earlier this year. It originally sounded too much like a Sonic Youth B-side – faster, heavier, and less nuanced than it is now. During a creative lull, I decided to revisit it, drawing a lot of inspiration from Alex G. However, as we started playing it live, ‘Glances’ took on a sound that’s now distinctly ours.”

Vocalist Jack Lawther continued, saying:

“It’s a song about betrayal and lovelessness. The imagery throughout the lyrics was heavily inspired by the work of [Hong Kong film director and screenwriter] Wong Kar-wai.”

‘Glances In The Dark’ is out now. Their debut EP is scheduled for January 19, 2024
