Raleigh, NC-based duo Fancy Gap, comprised of singer/songwriter Stuart McLamb (of The Love Language) and songwriter/producer Charles Crossingham, has announced the release of their self-titled debut album, set to drop on July 26, 2024, via Ghost Choir Records.

Alongside the album announcement comes the release of the lead single, ‘Strawberry Moon,’ featuring Sharon Van Etten. Now available for streaming, the song offers a wistfully breezy and soaring sound that sets the tone for the upcoming album.

‘Strawberry Moon’ is a song with a rich history, originating almost a decade ago with McLamb. After rediscovering the track and reimagining it as a folk-inspired piece, McLamb collaborated with Crossingham to breathe new life into the song’s arrangement. With contributions from acclaimed musicians Rami Jaffee and Jon Graboff with additional vocals by Sharon Van Etten, ‘Strawberry Moon’ captures a mood of depth and emotion, resonating with listeners on a profound level.

“‘Strawberry Moon’ goes back almost a decade for me. Back then, it had similar words and chords, but more of an 80s vibe with pulsing bass and synth. It slipped my mind for years until I stumbled upon it and stripped it down more like a folk song. I still didn’t think much of it until Charles and I talked about making a record together. He heard something in the demo that I didn’t, so we collaborated on the arrangement and were able to breathe new life into it.”

Fancy Gap’s debut album offers listeners a country-tinged, radio-ready sound that delves deep into universal themes. McLamb and Crossingham explore moments of laughter and loss, enduring bonds of friendship, and the highs and lows of relationships with a twang that evokes the heartland and a widescreen perspective hinting at something greater.

‘Strawberry Moon’ featuring Sharon Van Etten is out now. Their self-titled debut album is set to be released on July 26, 2024, via Ghost Choir Records.
