ELLiS·D unveils dark and unrelenting new single ‘Humdrum’
Brighton enigmatic solo artist, ELLiS·D, aka Ellis Dickson, returns with a haunting and frenetic new single, ‘Humdrum,’ out now via Crafting Room Recordings.
Fresh off a successful 7-date UK tour for Independent Venue Week, ELLiS·D follows up last Autumn’s psych-glam Hullo, Reality EP with the ghoulish and elusive ‘Humdrum.’ Contrary to its predecessor, ‘Humdrum’ delves into darker sonic territories, presenting a sound reminiscent of The Wytches-meets-Talking Heads. The single pulsates with a breakneck, anxiety-ridden rumble of new-wave rock, delivering a propulsive and unrelenting energy that is both captivating and insidiously direct.
Ellis shares:
“I wrote the song in a bit of a frenzy one afternoon whilst I was messing around on a kit with a beat that I’d been stuck on what to do with for ages. I had been trying to visualise melodies that were far too complicated in my head, so I decided to just stick on one chord and let the drums do the work, and from there, it just came in a flash. Lyrically, it touches on attempting to stay informed about issues but inevitably ingesting endless streams of sensationalism through the media, and how that punctures through what little tranquillity can be found in everyday life.”
ELLiS·D’s ‘Humdrum’ is out now.
