Dr. Dog returns with irresistible lead single ‘Talk Is Cheap’
The track, which serves as a preview of their forthcoming self-titled album, marks the band’s first release in six years and sets the stage for a triumphant comeback.
Philadelphia-based band Dr. Dog has unleashed their long-awaited return to the music scene with the infectious lead single ‘Talk Is Cheap.’ The track embodies the essence of Dr. Dog’s signature sound—a captivating blend of jangling grooves, soulful melodies, and exuberant energy. Written by bassist Toby Leaman, the song is a heartfelt love letter to his wife, expressing gratitude for her unwavering support and companionship.
Here he is discussing the song:
“It’s a song about my wife and how much I rely on her, how she’s always there for me. It’s funny because I’m not a big love-song guy, but everything I wrote on this album is for her.”
Accompanying the single is a visually captivating music video directed by Wyndham Garnett, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the band’s creative process. Shot during the recording sessions for the album, the video captures the spontaneous and kinetic energy that defines Dr. Dog’s approach to making music.
‘Talk Is Cheap’ serves as a fitting introduction to Dr. Dog’s upcoming album, promising an eclectic mix of soul, surf-rock, and symphonic pop that stays true to the band’s ever-eclectic spirit. Mixed by multi-Grammy-winner Matt Ross-Spang and produced by lead guitarist Scott McMicken, the single sets the stage for what promises to be a standout record in the band’s storied career.
Stay tuned for the release of Dr. Dog’s self-titled album on July 19th. In the meantime, let ‘Talk Is Cheap’ serve as your soundtrack to summer bliss.
