Blanco White shares the lead single and title track from his upcoming album.

English singer, songwriter, and musician Blanco White has released the lead single and title track from his upcoming album Tarifa. Set for release on September 29, the sophomore album follows his 2020 debut, On The Other Side. Released via Nettwerk (Miya Folick, Matt Maltese), the album was written predominantly in the town of the same name in southern Spain; the southernmost tip of Western Europe just 5 miles from Morocco. Josh collaborated extensively with afro-jazz collective Nubiyan Twist’s percussionist Pilo Adami who co-produced most of the record.

The title track was the first to surface from the album’s writing sessions in Spain. With swirling electronics and organic percussion elements the song is pulled together by Edwards’ inviting vocal treatment and his intricate finger-picking on the charango, a Bolivian instrument in the guitar family.

“I booked the trip [to Tarifa] because I had begun to feel more confident in my body’s ability to work intensely on music again after a nerve and chronic pain condition had stopped me from playing and recording altogether. Although I still had symptoms during that time, my pain levels had improved a lot from where they had been in the previous few years, and I wanted to begin pushing myself to see how my body would react.”

‘Tarifa’ is out now on all digital service providers.
