Brooklyn-based Horsepower have released their first new music of 2026 with the single ‘Force Quit,’ out now and co-produced with Model/Actriz’s Ruben Radlauer.

‘Force Quit’ centers on bandleader Charlotte Weinman confronting the emotional fallout of a collapsing relationship. The track opens with restraint, unfolding cautiously before giving way to a dense, abrasive finish. Delicate passages dissolve into dissonant guitars, heavy reverb, and submerged vocal layers, pushing the song toward a chaotic climax. The dynamic shift mirrors the song’s emotional arc, moving from quiet endurance to complete collapse, and positions ‘Force Quit’ as a darker, heavier counterpart to the band’s previous single, ‘Flute.’

Weinman explains the intention behind the track:

“If ‘Flute’ is about an effortful quest for peace, ‘Force Quit’ is the exhausted surrender. I wanted the song to first unfold cautiously and then completely unravel. When it comes time to unravel, we had a lot of fun making this behemoth wall of guitars. I screamed into the pickups, into the mic we had set up at the amp, and into the vocal mic, and we tucked those all throughout the last section.”

‘Force Quit’ is available now to stream on all major platforms.

We’ve covered Horsepower previously: ‘Coins,’ ‘Excalibur,’ ‘Are You Blushing.’
