In a triumphant return, The Boxer Rebellion unveil their latest project, Open Arms EP – a soulful collection of post-rock narratives that intricately weave through themes of fragility, resilience, and the power of human connection.

Produced by: The Boxer Rebellion

Released after a five-year hiatus, the Open Arms EP marks the resurgence of the post-rock trailblazers. The four-track offering, available on 12-inch vinyl and digital platforms, showcases the band’s unwavering commitment to their DIY roots. The EP navigates through expansive, soul-searching songwriting, culminating in a richly layered sonic experience. With an added emotional depth, the title track ‘Open Arms’ draws attention to human vulnerability and the vital support needed during challenging times.

Reflecting on personal trauma, The Boxer Rebellion’s last album, 2018’s Ghosts Alive fearlessly opened up dialogue on tragedy of loss and led to their support for mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). Speaking to The Independent at the time, singer Nathan Nicholson explained their ties to the charity in light of his own experience, but also that many musicians the band knew suffered “depression or mental health issues.

Nathan Nicholson goes on to discuss the EP:

“‘Open Arms’ started life a few years ago when we as a band visited CALM, who, in their words are “taking a stand against suicide.” That means standing against feeling shit, standing up to stereotypes, and standing together to show life is always worth living. It was eye-opening and also something that I can very much relate to through the experiences in my own family. ‘Open Arms’ is about the power of being there for someone, listening without judgment and letting them know that they are loved.”

Open Arms is out now. To stay updated with the band connect with them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
