Nashville-based indie folk duo Paper Wings has released their latest album, Mountains on the Moon. Comprised of Wila Frank and Emily Mann, the duo delivers a sound rooted in Americana and traditional folk that feels both piercingly pristine and authentically modern.

Produced by: Emily Mann and Wila Frank

Across the 12-track length of Mountains on the Moon, Paper Wings constructs a sonic landscape defined by the sparse, resonant textures of clawhammer banjo, acoustic guitar, and fiddle. The album navigates a thematic triad of friendship, love, and death, delivering melodies that possess a timeless weight as if they were etched in stone centuries ago. Their production approach favors an intimate, authentic atmosphere where the duo’s voices—two sopranos moving in unison with “knife-sharp” harmonies—serve as the primary emotional anchor for the record’s thematic cohesion.

Several tracks serve as standout anchors for the album’s narrative. ‘Fumblin’ sets a poignant tone, opening the album as a tender ode to friendship and the evolution of the heart. ‘Country Girl’ is a centerpiece of free-spirit Americana, reflecting the duo’s West Coast roots through a story of a rurally raised girl navigating a broken world. In contrast, ‘White Roses’ leans into the darker side of the folk tradition, operating as a 21st-century murder mystery that rivals the narrative depth of a classic Child ballad.

Mountains on the Moon is out now on all major platforms starting March 1, 2026.
