Gen-Z indie band late night drive home releases their full-length debut with as I watch my life online, a record that navigates the digital maze of growing up internet-immersed. Out now via Epitaph, the album offers a self-aware and sonically rich portrayal of what it means to come of age in the age of online everything.

Produced by: Sonny Diperri

Blending elements of early-aughts indie with glitchy textures and bursts of nostalgia, late night drive home delivers 13 tracks that function as both diary entries and digital dispatches. Songs like ‘she came for a sweet time,’ ‘american church,’ and ‘terabyte’ anchor the album with music videos that match the project’s restless, hyperconnected tone. Each track examines the push-pull of social media, identity, and overstimulation — tapping into themes of instant gratification, digital fatigue, and emotional detachment.

The El Paso, Texas, and Chaparral, New Mexico-based quartet — comprised of Juan “Ockz” Vargas (guitar), Andre Portillo (vocals), Brian Dolan (drums), and Freddy Baca (bass) — bring a DIY ethic to a professionally polished sound as they work with producer Sonny Diperri. The album reflects on the duality of living online and off, pairing sleek production with lyrics that highlight the absurdity and vulnerability of digital life.

Guitarist Juan “Ockz” Vargas says:

“The record is a critique and a meta representation of the current online landscape: a whole new world or giant united country that connects us between cities, forcing us to be online. Instant gratification is at our fingertips — likes, follows, and entertainment a click away. It shows the listener how we grew up in the early days of peak internet — how we saw it all unfold. We want to give our perspective on the internet while creating art alongside it.”

Having built buzz with viral singles like ‘Stress Relief’ and festival performances at Coachella and Austin City Limits, as I watch my life online is a confident step forward. It captures a generation’s collective confusion and commentary — wired in, scrolled out, but still seeking meaning.
