London-based trio headboy have just released their highly anticipated debut EP Was It What You Thought. This 4-track offering from the post-punk outfit is a snarling blend of explosive bursts and intimate lo-fi tones, drawing inspiration from influential acts such as Sleater-Kinney, Radiohead, Television, and Pixies.
Recorded at Hackney Studios in East London with producer Joe Futak, Was It What You Thought showcases headboy’s musical versatility and ability to incorporate a range of influences into their own distinctive sound. With Mars West on guitar, bass, and vocals (they/them), Jess Collins on bass, guitar, and vocals (she/they), and Oli Birbeck on drums (they/them), the trio delivers an impressive collection of tracks that reflect their unique perspectives.
Written and recorded during intense political unrest, the EP explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and self-discovery amidst chaos.
