Australian producer cln delivers a captivating 12-track collection that takes the listener through to a lighter, more pure, celestial phase.

Produced by: Callan Alexander

cln is an artist that we’ve covered ever since we were introduced to him in mid-2021. Since then, he’s released 7 singles and produced a handful of other artists’ tracks. Today, the Australian producer has released his second full-length album Over, All Again.

Follow-up to 2019’s Dawn Chorus, the captivating 12-track collection takes the listener through to a lighter, more pure, celestial phase. This project has seen Callan explore a variety of songwriting and production techniques. For instance, he adopts a softer voice and higher octave not seen in his catalog until today. This vulnerability is the album’s x-factor. It’s what gives tracks like ‘Undone,’ ‘Into The Night,’ and ‘Endlessly’ a heavenly quality allowing them to float through the speakers and to your ears.

Here’s Callan explaining the shift in technique:

“This album represents a real sonic shift for me. I don’t think it sounds anything like my previous work, and it is a big mix of sounds and genres. The album is also representative of the changes in my life over the last few years since Dawn Chorus was released.”

As an avid bird enthusiast Callan has included a smattering of field recordings he’s gathered over the year. Here he is discussing some of the specifics:

“Throughout the album, you will hear scattered recordings of interesting sounds that I come across in my travel. I have some really cool stuff in there: Powerful Owl, Noisy Pitta, Marbled Frogmouth, Albert’s Lyrebird, and a bunch of other rare and interesting species. I have kept them quite subtle, so as not to overpower the songs, but I love that they are nestled in there. I think natural noises are about as beautiful as it gets, and they are my biggest inspirations for making music.”

As a whole, the album is cohesive and sees the Australian producer not boxed into any one genre or sound. It’s a relaxing listen that features a plethora of features (Holly Hebe, Eilish Gilligan, LUUNG, Stephen Geisler, Blve Diamond, and px). Give it a listen and be sure to keep an ear out for all of the beautiful bird samples.

Over, All Again is available everywhere now.
