ZUSO taps Keelan Mak for emotionally charged new single ‘Hurting’
Rising Australian electronic producer ZUSO (aka Gabriel Cuenca) returns this week with ‘Hurting,’ a deeply atmospheric new single featuring the emotive vocals of Melbourne artist Keelan Mak.
Blending shimmering synths, delicate textures, and poignant melodies, ‘Hurting’ highlights a seamless fusion of UK garage and stutter-house influences. The track is a dynamic entry in ZUSO’s ever-evolving soundscape—polished, intimate, and emotionally rich. “I started this idea on a rainy day in my hotel room in London. Originally, it began as a melodic house tune, and I was experimenting with vocal chops to fit the groove. Eventually, it shifted into this UKG/stutter-house vibe. I kept refining it on the flight home and wrapped it up when I landed back in Sydney. I knew it needed something extra—that’s when I hit up Keelan. His voice complements the smooth energy of the track perfectly and really elevated the whole piece.”
