Columbus, Ohio-based artist villagerrr, the project of Mark Allen Scott, has released ‘Locket,’ out now via Winspear. The track serves as the first preview of his upcoming album Carousel, which is scheduled for release on May 29, 2026, through the same label.

‘Locket’ explores themes of love during turbulent times and is described as the emotional core of the new record. Produced on a slower timeline than previous releases, the single features a collaborative arrangement with contributions from Boone Patrello of the band Teethe and Ceci Sturman. The sound is both bold and delicate, characterized by closely harmonized vocals and a sweeping production style that evolved from initial sketches Scott recorded at home in Ohio.

Of the track, Scott adds:

“Even though the song might have some sad imagery and stuff, I like to think this song is a love letter to my friends and family and band about how shit is hard, but we gotta stick together. To put it bluntly.”

‘Locket’ is now available on all major streaming platforms.

We’ve covered villagerrr previously: ‘Ride or Die.’
