Toronto coldwave duo TRAITRS release their new single ‘I was ill, you were wrong,’ out now (November 28), arriving with the announcement of their fourth studio album Possessor, due March 13, 2026.

Built on echoing synths, brooding vocals, and guitars that cut through like cold air, ‘I was ill, you were wrong’ strips TRAITRS’ sound down to its most vulnerable core. The track examines humanity’s denial of mortality and the psychological defenses we build to avoid confronting the inevitable. Themes of isolation, fear, and the fleeting nature of existence anchor the production, creating a chilling yet intimate atmosphere.

Vocalist and guitarist Shawn Tucker states:

“I felt that song connected me to everything and everyone, it’s the one thing we all share and have in common. It’s also a wake up call to live the life you want to live, we only have one chance at this so go dance in the rain.”

The single offers an early look at Possessor, which the duo—Sean Patrick Nolan (synth and sequencing) and Shawn Tucker (guitar and vocals)—call their most personal and emotionally charged record to date. Written during a period marked by depression, profound life changes, and Toronto’s bleak winter months, the album explores mortality, grief, alienation, and the weight of impermanence. Recorded at Wychwood Studios with Korody and mastered by Colton, Possessor captures TRAITRS at their most unguarded.

TRAITRS will support the album with an extensive 2026 tour spanning Europe, the UK, and the US. The run includes a London date at the 229 Club on March 22, with additional dates across multiple continents.

‘I was ill, you were wrong’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
