The Gentle Good explores ownership and landscape in new single ‘Ten Thousand Acres’

Welsh folk artist The Gentle Good (Gareth Bonello) unveils his latest single, ‘Ten Thousand Acres,’ out now via Bubblewrap Collective. The track serves as the second release from his upcoming album Elan, a psychedelic folk portrait of the Elan Valley in Powys, Wales.
Written during a year-long residency in the Cambrian Mountains, ‘Ten Thousand Acres’ reflects on the shifting perceptions of land ownership and the valley’s storied past. Combining delicate guitar work with atmospheric production, the song encapsulates both the beauty and historical weight of a landscape that was reshaped to supply water to Birmingham during the Victorian era.
Speaking about the song, The Gentle Good shares:
“‘Ten Thousand Acres’ is an ode to the valley’s many expressions and a meditation on ownership and our perception of landscape throughout time.”
As Elan prepares for its release on May 16, 2025, ‘Ten Thousand Acres’ provides a glimpse into the album’s richly woven narrative.
