Sub Urban returns with tense new single ‘555’
Sub Urban releases his new single ‘555’ today, as the 26-year-old artist, born Daniel Maisonneuve, continues the creative direction introduced on his 2025 album If Nevermore.
‘555’ leans further into the unsettling, emotionally charged space Sub Urban has been exploring in recent releases. Built around a sense of momentum and instability, the song captures a moment of internal derailment, pairing warped textures with a tightly wound sense of anticipation. The production emphasizes tension and release, reinforcing themes of loss of control and emotional fracture while maintaining the hyper-modern aesthetic that defines his recent work. The track follows November’s ‘mercury,’ which extended the warped orchestral palette introduced on If Nevermore.
Maisonneuve says of the track:
“‘555’ is a feeling of derailing onto another track. The verge of an imminent fall. My soul banging against a glass tank, anticipating an inevitable break.”
‘555’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
