Chicago-based noise rock trio Starcharm make their arrival today with their debut single ‘The Color Clear,’ released via Fire Talk Records’ Angel Tapes imprint. The track arrives alongside a self-directed video and a release show tonight at Beat Kitchen in Chicago.

Composed of vocalist/guitarist Elena Buenrostro, bassist Jasmin Feliciano, and drummer Amaya Peña, Starcharm formed from Buenrostro’s former project Soft and Dumb, reemerging with a reconfigured sound that blends post-punk guitars, pop structures, and noisy impulses. Recorded in Peña’s Chicago apartment, ‘The Color Clear’ bursts with kinetic urgency, anchored by jangly guitars, steady bass, and a raw vocal refrain of “I’m not the one.”

“‘The Color Clear’ is inspired by a time when I lost all faith in love and felt like men were seeing me as a projection instead of a real person. I was going through a bit of nihilistic mania during this time which I think you can definitely hear. An avoidant attachment anthem if you will.”

‘The Color Clear’ is out now.
