Squint shares new track ‘Magic’

St. Louis-based hardcore-punk band Squint has released their first single of 2024, ‘Magic,’ out now via Sunday Drive.
Produced by Jon Markson (Samiam, Drain, The Story So Far), ‘Magic’ highlights Squint’s blend of punk, hardcore, alternative, and art-rock influences. The track showcases an evolution in their sound, blending their signature melodic-hardcore/punk style with the big chorus elements reminiscent of 90s alternative rock. Vocalist Brennan Wilkinson describes ‘Magic’ as a symbolic journey from being a student to becoming a teacher, using the imagery of a magician.
He states:
“The song begins with the subject in awe of a magician and ends with himself on stage doing the tricks. Using magic as a metaphor for the illusion and entertainment of being a musician, the song shows our subject’s pupil-to-mentor pipeline.”
