Sports explore freedom and self-acceptance on ‘Nice 2 Meet Myself Bang Bang Bang’

Oklahoma-based dream-pop duo Sports return with their electrifying new single ‘Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang),’ a track that merges glitchy psychedelia with hazy soundscapes while exploring themes of freedom, self-acceptance, and emotional release.
‘Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)’ opens with a jolting sample that repeats “bang bang bang,” laying the foundation for a euphoric listening experience designed for both intimacy and grandeur. Inspired by David Byrne’s How Music Works, the duo crafted the track with stadiums and arenas in mind, pairing cathartic melodies with lyrics that grapple with the tension between longing for freedom and the inner obstacles that hold us back.
Cale and Christian share:
“This song was built around the sample heard at the very beginning – ‘bang bang bang.’ Inspired by a chapter in David Byrne’s How Music Works, which explores how artists often (consciously or not) write music that suits the venues they imagine themselves playing in, we set out to intentionally create a song that would sound great in a stadium or arena.
“Lyrically, the song’s title and concept were inspired by How To Meet Yourself by Dr. Nicole LePera. It imagines a version of yourself that’s free from fear, free from judgment, and ultimately free from yourself.”
Out now, ‘Nice 2 Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)’ underscores Sports’ evolution while honoring their roots in alt-pop experimentation.
