Shower Curtain embraces insomnia and anxiety on its latest single ‘Benadryl Man’

New York City-based band Shower Curtain delves into eerie insomnia and anxiety with their latest single ‘Benadryl Man,’ a haunting track from their upcoming debut album Words from a Wishing Well, set to release on October 18 via Angel Tapes / Fire Talk Records.
‘Benadryl Man’ opens the album with a sinister tone, blending staticky distortion, dissonant string arrangements, and a horror movie-inspired atmosphere. The song captures the feeling of being trapped in a nightmare, with bandleader Victoria Winter’s lyrics painting a vivid picture of insomnia-induced paranoia.
Victoria Winter says of the track:
“‘benadryl man’ tells the story of my issues with sleeping and anxiety. I see a figure sitting on my couch and it prevents me from entering a stage of peace, moreover not feeling safe in my home. The instrumentals are a little sinister and creepy, and I always envisioned having strings on this.”
As the band prepares for the release of their debut album, Words from a Wishing Well, ‘Benadryl Man’ stands as a bold introduction to the album’s themes of anxiety, grief, and introspection, firmly establishing Shower Curtain’s place in the slowcore and shoegaze scene.
