Shintaro Sakamoto brings ‘Is There A Place For You There?’ into focus with live studio performance
Shintaro Sakamoto releases a live in-studio performance video for his new single ‘Is There A Place For You There?’ today, December 15, 2025, ahead of his upcoming album Yoo-hoo, due January 23, 2026, via Zelone Records with Secretly Distribution.
Recorded last month at Peace Music studio in Tokyo, the video captures an exclusive in-studio version of ‘Is There A Place For You There?’ performed by the Shintaro Sakamoto Band. The lineup features Shintaro Sakamoto on vocals and guitar, AYA on bass, Yuta Suganuma on drums, and Tetsu Nishiuchi on flute, with recording engineered by Soichiro Nakamura. Directed by Yasuyuki Yamaguchi, the performance premiered via Post-Trash and presents a focused, stripped-back setting that highlights the track’s detailed arrangements and rhythmic flow. The single was also featured as KCRW’s ‘Today’s Top Tune’ last week.
Written and produced by Sakamoto, ‘Is There A Place For You There?’ blends nostalgic Showa-era pop influences with dub-infused production. The song pairs warm melodic phrasing with subtle rhythmic shifts, showcasing Sakamoto’s distinctive approach to songwriting and his ability to frame contemporary perspectives through retro-leaning musical language. The live studio version emphasizes the interplay between flute, rhythm section, and guitar, offering a clear look at the song’s structure and tone.
‘Is There A Place For You There?’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
