Japanese musician and visual artist Shintaro Sakamoto has released his first new music since 2022 with the single ‘Dear Grandpa’ today (October 15, 2025) via Zelone Records/Secretly Distribution. Arriving ahead of his upcoming North American tour, the track continues Sakamoto’s tradition of blending intricate arrangements with a distinct, genre-defying sound that has earned him international acclaim.

‘Dear Grandpa’ captures Sakamoto’s unmistakable mix of airy guitar tones, melodic grooves, and surreal lyricism—an extension of the lush, experimental pop that has defined his solo work. Known for crafting songs that balance playfulness with introspection, Sakamoto again demonstrates his mastery in building richly textured worlds of sound that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

Sakamoto’s North American tour begins October 28 in Los Angeles and includes stops in San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Brooklyn, and Mexico City. His live band features AYA (bass & chorus), Yuta Suganuma (drums & chorus), and Tetsu Nishiuchi (saxophone & flute). The tour will feature special guests Thee Heart Tones, Rogê, El Michels Affair, Nick Hakim, and Habibi on select dates.

‘Dear Grandpa’ is available now on all streaming platforms via Zelone Records/Secretly Distribution.
