Sextile unleashes defiant energy with new single ‘S is For’

Los Angeles duo Sextile is back with their latest single, ‘S is For,’ a bold and unfiltered track that leads the charge for their upcoming album yes, please., set to release on May 2, 2025, via Sacred Bones.
‘S is For’ is a sonic adrenaline rush, blending Sextile’s electronic punk sound with sharp lyrical defiance. Vocalist Melissa Scaduto delivers a rhythmic and almost chant-like vocal performance, repeating “Sex / S*** / Swell / Stiff / Slag / Snap / Shut” over pulsating synthesizers and pounding techno drums. The result is a track that is both danceable and confrontational, a perfect showcase of the band’s ability to balance raw energy with meticulous production. Accompanying the song is a dynamic video, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Sextile’s high-octane live performances during their recent tour with Molchat Doma.
Speaking about the track, Scaduto explains:
“It’s not super relevant to Sextile but with my other project ‘S. Product’ I was always asked what the S is for – it’s always really been a Scaduto product to me. But this song is sassy way to explain how many things the S could be.”
Originally, the music video had a different concept, but due to the devastating LA fires, the band had to shift plans and film it while on tour. “The video is a collage of performances, audiences, and backstage moments across several different shows during our US tour with Molchat Doma.” Scaduto shares.
As Sextile gears up for the release of yes, please., fans can also look forward to catching them live on their upcoming UK and EU headline tour, which kicks off in May. With a reputation for delivering electrifying performances, this tour promises to bring the full-throttle energy of ‘S is For’ and the rest of yes, please. to the stage.
