Sam Walwyn pours emotion into his latest single ‘Overtime’

In his first single of 2024, singer-songwriter Sam Walwyn transforms feelings of underappreciation into a vibrant indie-pop anthem giving listeners a poignant glimpse into his personal struggles and creative prowess.
Sam Walwyn’s new single, ‘Overtime,’ is a raw and heartfelt expression of the artist’s experiences in a relationship where he felt unheard. The upbeat, guitar-led tune serves as a preview from his upcoming EP, Can We Restart.
Reflecting on the unique origin of the track, Sam shares the interesting story of its creation during lockdown. Initially part of a sample pack for BBC Introducing, the song gained momentum with a mini viral moment on TikTok, accumulating over 60K views. Sam’s ability to turn a personal journey into a relatable and catchy melody is evident in every note of ‘Overtime.’
“I felt like I was working overtime to keep myself and the relationship afloat and in amongst all of those fluctuating emotions, I wrote this song called Overtime explaining the fear of opening up and not feeling like you can reach out for help.”
‘Overtime’ is out now. You can expect more to come from this emerging artist over the course of the year.
