Robber Robber, a Vermont-based quartet, releases their new single and video ‘Suspicious Minds’ today via Fire Talk Records, their final release of 2025 and latest since recently signing to the Brooklyn label.

The track finds Robber Robber reworking Elvis Presley’s iconic chart-topper into something rougher and more unsettled. Their version of ‘Suspicious Minds’ leans into a well-worn, grungy texture, reshaping the song’s themes of mistrust and dysfunction through the band’s distinct sonic lens. Rather than polishing the original’s grandeur, Robber Robber pull it apart, allowing tension and distortion to sit at the center of the arrangement. The accompanying music video, directed by co-founders Nina Cates and Zack James, mirrors this approach, assembling dimly lit, evocative footage that closely aligns with the band’s established visual identity.

On the cover, Robber Robber says:

“We went through an Elvis phase where we listened to a bunch of Elvis for a couple of weeks and watched those two movies about him and Priscilla, and ‘Suspicious Minds’ has always been a favorite. We recorded a version of it as a fun activity — at the time we didn’t expect to release it or anything. It is interesting to think about the original context of the song and how it translates to a modern day. Given that, to my understanding Elvis was actually giving his wife quite a lot of good reason to be suspicious. Kinda a gaslight song tbh — definitely feels a little more tongue in cheek now. Regardless! The song is a real ripper. Shoutout to the guy who wrote it originally, Mark James, who also wrote ‘Hooked On A Feeling’… big fan of his work.”

‘Suspicious Minds’ is available now to stream, alongside its official video.
