UK producer Ryan Lee West, better known as Rival Consoles, returns with ‘Known Shape,’ a twitchy, mechanical new single that captures his knack for channeling restless emotion through intricate sound design.

Released ahead of his forthcoming ninth album Landscape from Memory, due July 4th via Erased Tapes, ‘Known Shape’ offers a glimpse into the album’s dynamic, exploratory terrain. The track melds a loping drum pattern—crafted from rotating switches—with synths propelled by “invisible mechanical rhythms,” as West puts it. The result is a soundscape that pulses with otherworldly life and emotional inquiry.

On the track, West says:

“I’ve always been obsessed by controls on machines because they produce beautiful sounds and they have their own rhythms… There is a constant searching in ‘Known Shape’ for some kind of answer or emotion.”

‘Known Shape’ is available to stream now, and Landscape from Memory arrives July 4th via Erased Tapes.
