Retail Drugs shares ‘Anti-Lonely’ ahead of Factory Reset release

Retail Drugs, the NYC recording project of Jake Brooks, has announced their upcoming album Factory Reset, out December 5 via Angel Tapes / Fire Talk, and shared its lead single and video, ‘Anti-Lonely.’
Following this summer’s b-sides and demos collection rECKless dRIVing, Factory Reset will be the band’s second album of 2025 and third full-length release overall. The project takes a bold step away from Brooks’ guitar-driven, tape-recorded roots and instead leans into experimental electronic textures, distorted bass, and harsh noise elements. Written and recorded sequentially, each track on Factory Reset responds to the one before it, creating a narrative-like progression. Lead single ‘Anti-Lonely’ embodies this new direction with a caustic soundscape propelled by Brooks’ avant-punk vocal delivery. The song is accompanied by a video filmed by Josiah and David Martuscello, which visually explores themes of burnout, timeline addiction, and digital obsession.
Brooks says of the track’s creation:
“I was just getting home from my day job, and I was pissed off for some reason. ‘Anti-Lonely’ focuses on how it’s hard to follow online trends. The internet is an angel that at the end, rips my vocal chords out of my throat, taking my voice away.”
‘Anti-Lonely’ sets the stage for Factory Reset, a charged reinvention that abandons old rules and embraces new sonic extremes. Fans can catch Retail Drugs live during their November tour, which runs from November 13 in Hamden, CT, through November 17 in Albany, NY, followed by a special album release show on December 13 at Alphaville in Brooklyn.
