Radio Free Alice’s ‘Empty Words’ packs a post-punk punch

Australia’s Radio Free Alice has unleashed their first single of 2025, ‘Empty Words,’ a jagged and electrifying track that’s already turning heads.
‘Empty Words’ is a sonic assault on hollow activism, with Learmonth’s throaty, operatic voice cutting through a gritty guitar tone. The track, born from a jam session during downtime between UK shows last year, channels a raw frustration that resonates with a generation grappling with social stagnation. It’s immediate and arresting, pairing earworm choruses with a rhapsodic swagger that evokes the heyday of guitar-driven rock. The official video, directed by Finn Robilliard, complements the single’s intensity, offering a visual jolt as captivating as the music itself.
Learmonth shares:
“‘Empty Words’ came out of a jam like most of our songs do. It was in some downtime between shows while we were in the UK last year. Lyrically it’s about the feeling of social stagnation that I think a lot of young people in our generation feel.”
‘Empty Words’ is out now.
