Pictureplane has released his new single and video ‘Dream Machine,’ a track that explores altered states of consciousness and serves as the latest preview of his forthcoming album Sex Distortion, out October 31st via Music Website.

For nearly two decades, the Brooklyn-based producer and visual artist born Travis Egedy has created music that blurs the lines between noise and melody, darkness and light, anarchy and ecstasy. ‘Dream Machine’ continues that approach, pulling inspiration from a 1959 art object created by visionary artist Bryan Gysin, later popularized by William Burroughs. The Dream Machine is a rotating cylinder on a turntable that produces flickering light patterns designed to induce altered states of consciousness. The single reflects this concept both lyrically and sonically, immersing the listener in a hypnotic, neo-gothic soundscape.

On the track, he shares:

“The name ‘Dream Machine’ comes from an art object created by the visionary artist, Bryan Gysin in 1959 and it was helped popularized by William Burroughs. It is a rotating cylinder on a turntable that creates a flickering light pattern which induces altered states of consciousness in people. The song is written from the perspective of someone using the dream machine.”

‘Dream Machine’ is out now.
