Permafrost shares brooding post-punk single ‘Ultimo August’

Nordic-British post-punk band Permafrost has released their latest single, ‘Ultimo August,’ a dark yet compelling anthem that serves as the final preview for their upcoming album, The Light Coming Through, set to drop on October 11th.
‘Ultimo August’ captures the essence of Permafrost’s signature sound, blending icy synths with haunting baritone vocals to create a chilling soundscape. The track explores the themes of heartbreak and self-reflection, as lead singer Kåre Steinsbu’s voice guides listeners through the emotional journey of mending a broken relationship. With pulsating basslines and intricate guitar work, ‘Ultimo August’ juxtaposes the coldness of winter with the warmth of summer, reminiscent of the atmospheric styles of Joy Division, Interpol, and The Cure.
“Ultimo August is a song about a broken relationship and the realisation that it’s necessary to look inward first to work out where it went wrong. It’s a story of a person who is torn between the turbulence of passion and the mundanity of a peaceful life.”
‘Ultimo August’ is out now.
