Known for their vibrant college rock, Oya Paya introduces ‘Don’t Ask,’ a darker sonic departure serving as an anti-morning anthem.

Oya Paya, the trio of singer and guitarist Maxime McGowan, bassist Saam Jafarzadeh, and drummer Ashwin Menon, bring a sonic departure from their usual spirited college rock and 8-bit synth pop. Embracing a shoegaze/doom groove, ‘Don’t Ask’ emerges as an anthem for those who view anything pre-noon as an intrusion into their nocturnal world.

Describing the essence of ‘Don’t Ask,’ Oya Paya collectively shares:

“Forged in the fires of our crusty morning angst. This song is for those of us who can barely string a sentence together before 11 am. If you’ve ever had your day ruined by an early morning bust-up then you’ll know the feeling of the song right away. Ultimately the motivation behind this tune was to make a smoky 90’s alternative doom groove.”

‘Don’t Ask’ is out now on all streaming services.
