Toronto-via-Vancouver indie folk-rock outfit Octoberman has returned with ‘Harry Nilsson,’ the latest single from their upcoming seventh album Chutes, out August 27 on Ishmalia Records.

The track blends jangly indie rock with folk sensibilities, offering a bittersweet meditation on aging, loss, and reinvention. Recorded live to two-inch tape at Little Bullhorn Studios in Ottawa with longtime collaborator Jarrett Bartlett, ‘Harry Nilsson’ captures an analog warmth and immediacy. Shimmering guitars and airy instrumentation are paired with vintage-style extreme skiing footage by filmmaker Nick Steers, complementing the reflective tone of the song.

“I had recently lost my mother, so I was hyper-aware of mortality and how things can turn on a dime. Losing an ever-present person in your life makes you more afraid of it happening again, especially as a father and husband. In the end, it’s like losing a part of yourself that never comes back.”

‘Harry Nilsson’ is out now. The full album Chutes arrives August 27 on Ishmalia Records.
