No Joy reenters the fray with shape-shifting new single ‘Bugland’

No Joy returns with ‘Bugland,’ the lead single and title track from the upcoming LP Bugland, due out August 8 via Hand Drawn Dracula and Sonic Cathedral.
Produced in collaboration with Chicago experimental artist Fire-Toolz (aka Angel Marcloid), ‘Bugland’ marks a bold evolution in Jasamine White-Gluz’s ever-shifting project. The single is a dense, genre-blurring composition that melds heavy bass lines reminiscent of Motherhood with a dizzying palette of glitchy electronics. The result is a chaotic yet cohesive sonic world that signals a deep creative synergy between White-Gluz and Marcloid.
“This was the first song Fire-Toolz & No Joy produced together, initially without any plan to ever release it. Our production styles melded so well together on this track that we decided we should make a whole album. The song came together super organically, from the Korn-esque bass lines to the earworm vocal, it’s the welcome sign of the album letting you know you’ve officially entered our world.”
Bugland the album follows 2020’s critically acclaimed Motherhood and represents a deeper plunge into hybrid soundscapes. With Fire-Toolz as a key creative partner, the record pushes past genre boundaries and builds a new sonic language from shared influences and experimental freedom.
Bugland is out August 8. Stream the title track now and prepare to step into No Joy’s latest reinvention.
