Acclaimed singer-songwriter and pianist Neal Francis has unveiled his latest single, ‘Broken Glass,’ a darkly mesmerizing track from his upcoming third studio album, Return To Zero, set for release on March 14 via ATO Records.

‘Broken Glass’ was born out of an impromptu jam session between Francis and Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman, with Francis on bass and Shuman on drums. The result is a groove-driven composition that pulses with tension, exploring themes of desire and restraint. Say She She’s soaring, near-operatic harmonies add an ethereal quality to the track’s climactic bridge, while the pounding drums elevate its hypnotic allure. The song is accompanied by a visually striking music video, which leans into camp and playful carnality, following Francis as he is lured and tormented by a mysterious temptress before an explosive finale.

Francis says:

“This tune was born from a jam session with Michael Shuman from Queens of the Stone Age. He was on drums and I was on bass. It was the first time we met, and not only did we have fun, but left with a complete song. The lyrics were free-form material I had written down about sub/dom relationships in the bedroom.”

Return To Zero marks Francis’ first full-length release in over three years, bringing together elements of classic rock and ’70s dance music with a fully analog recording approach. The album includes previously released tracks such as the power-pop anthem ‘What’s Left Of Me’ and the groove-heavy ‘Need You Again.’

To support the release, Francis is embarking on a North American headline tour starting March 20 in Cleveland, OH. The tour will see him making stops across the U.S., Canada, and even Japan before a second U.S. leg in May. He is also set to appear at major festivals, including Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and Denver’s Outside Festival.

‘Broken Glass’ is out now.
