Vancouver shoegaze outfit Movieland releases new single ‘I Relate’

Movieland, the iconic Vancouver shoegaze band from the ’90s, is back with a newly reissued single, ‘I Relate,’ out now via 604 Records’ new archival imprint, 604 Decades.
‘I Relate’ captures the band’s signature blend of dreamy melodies, moody guitar riffs, and introspective lyrics, evoking the angst and self-doubt of youth. Originally recorded during Movieland’s early years, the single exemplifies the band’s immersive soundscapes that helped shape the underground alternative music scene in Vancouver during the early 90s. The track also serves as a tribute to the era when shoegaze was emerging amidst the grunge explosion led by Nirvana and Sonic Youth.
Jonathan Simkin, President of 604 Records said:
“I’m having so much fun going backwards and rediscovering music. There’s the excitement of getting to put it out there now through 604 Decades. It feels like a second chance.”
As Movieland’s long-awaited collection of rarities approaches its full release on December 13th, 2024, ‘I Relate’ stands as a powerful introduction to Then & Now, proving that great music can indeed transcend time.
