Max Rad captures the afterglow of romance with new single ‘a love letter’

Bristol-based singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Max Rad has released his new single ‘a love letter.’ The track serves as the lead release from his forthcoming second album of the same name (May 29, 2026).
Produced and written by Max Rad during a writing retreat in Devon, ‘a love letter’ explores themes of formative romance, friendships, and the role of music in shaping personal memories. The track features a distinct club influence that avoids peak-time intensity, opting instead for a hazy, euphoric sound that inhabits the liminal space of late nights and early mornings. The production emphasizes a reflective “afterglow” aesthetic, blending multi-instrumental layers with a steady electronic pulse to soundtrack the transition from the dance floor to the drive home.
Reflecting on the track, Max explains:
“This was actually the last song that I wrote for the album – and it was like a eureka moment when everything I’d written, on this writing trip away in Devon, made sense and this idea kind of summed it all up. I hadn’t really set out to do anything specific but realised that all the songs I had made were telling a love story, and it felt like lots of little messages of love, like letters and memories collected together. It’s not only a love letter to somebody but also to a time, and to the music that soundtracked that time.”
‘a love letter’ is out now and available to stream on all major platforms.
