Indie pop artist Max Blansjaar releases second single ‘Burning In Our Name’ from debut album False Comforts

Produced by Katie Von Schleicher, 21-year-old indie pop artist Max Blansjaar shares ‘Burning In Our Name.’
Following the success of ‘Anna Madonna,’ ‘Burning In Our Name’ offers another burst of quirky, catchy, and sonically ambitious indie pop. Max describes the songwriting process as stream-of-consciousness, reflecting on the individual’s role within generational challenges and the impact of politics on personal lives. Produced by Katie Von Schleicher, the track came quickly in real-time.
Here’s Max discussing the track:
“I wrote this song in one sitting — it was a stream-of-consciousness kind of thing. How many times had I turned on the radio and heard about ‘generational challenges’? How does the individual fit into that picture? From the moment we’re born, how many fires have already been started in our name? Politics is personal, and what seem like huge, sprawling issues can affect our lives in small, everyday ways.
“We recorded most of the song to cassette using a six-track Tascam tape recorder. I left the tape in the studio in Brooklyn by mistake — I’ll go and pick it up one day.”
‘Burning In Our Name’ is out now on all streaming services.
