Australian artist Maver has teamed up with rising Sydney talent Jnr. to release ‘Lazy,’ an intoxicating single that captures the essence of taking a break from life’s demands.

‘Lazy’ is the latest teaser from Maver’s upcoming EP, Spirals, set for release in October. The track blends alternative pop with charismatic indie-dance elements, showcasing Maver’s unique sound that draws comparisons to artists like BAYNK, Biig Piig, and Whethan. The song came together quickly, reflecting the ease and spontaneity that inspired its creation. With Maver on production and Jnr. on vocal duties, the track is a laid-back anthem for anyone feeling the pressures of constant work and forced creativity.

Maver explains the inspiration behind ‘Lazy,’ saying:

“As artists, burnout from constant work and forced creativity is all too common, making a day off feel like a forbidden luxury. ‘Lazy’ offers a fantasy where you can say “fuck today” without any social consequences and simply be.

“Jnr. and I have been writing together for a few years now after meeting on a Covid online writing camp. Since moving to Sydney, we’ve been able to work together in person, which has greatly boosted our creative process. This song, for example, came together incredibly quickly. We almost completed the whole song in just one day. We had begun talking about how we were in similar situations and how overworking yourself is way too easy to do, especially if you’re a creative at the moment, and that just became the theme of the song.”

‘Lazy’ featuring Jnr. is out now.
