Mandy (Miranda Winters of Melkbelly) announces debut album Lawn Girl with infectious lead single ‘High School Boyfriend’

Chicago indie stalwart Miranda Winters, the dynamic voice behind Melkbelly, steps into the limelight with her solo project, Mandy. Her debut album, Lawn Girl, is slated for release on April 26, 2024, via Exploding In Sound Records.
Mandy (Miranda Winters of Melkbelly) has released her debut single, ‘High School Boyfriend.’ Taken from her forthcoming album, the song emerges as an instant anthem. The track is also accompanied by a visually compelling video directed by Liam Winters with cinematography by Marty Schousboe (Joe Pera Talks With You).
Winters explains:
“‘High School Boyfriend’ is a revenge fantasy song about the embarrassment of sincerity and waiting so long to say something that by the time it comes out you’re yelling. It’s a ballad for teenage girls everywhere.”
Lawn Girl is a compelling blend of older and newer songs. Promising a vibrant expression of pent-up energy, the album marks a personal and artistic renaissance for Winters. The recording process, a mix of solo efforts and collaborative sessions with Taylor Hales at Electrical Audio, embraces the imperfections akin to the charm of photocopying—a technique that resonates with Winters’ visual art.
‘High School Boyfriend’ is out now. Lawn Girl is slated for release on April 26, 2024 via Exploding In Sound Records.
