Loving announce sophomore album Any Light alongside release of lead single ‘Medicine’
British Columbia-based duo Loving sets the stage for their upcoming album, Any Light, slated for February 9th, 2024, via Last Gang Records/MNRK.
Loving release their lead single, ‘Medicine,’ capturing the essence of their sophomore album, unfurling in a dream-like narrative. According to Henderson, the song is a lighthearted story inspired by a friend’s psychedelic experiences:
“This was playfully written as a chronicle of our friend’s recent psychedelic adventures, he’s the sort who is always looking for a cure.”
On the album, Henderson and Parry embrace an organic and experimental approach, often crafting multiple versions of a track before crystallizing its final form. This deliberate, unpressured process birthed an album that invites listeners into a realm of charmed receptivity while delving into themes of love, depression, existential pondering, and the ramifications of a digitized existence.
Regarding the album, Henderson explains:
“When I looked at all of these songs together, I realized that the concept of light was threaded throughout the album. For me, light signifies awareness or insight, which ties into how many of these songs document a shift in perspective.”
‘Medicine’ is out now. Any Light is scheduled for release on February 9, 2024.
