Local Weatherman continues rollout with ‘Weighing’

Brooklyn rock band Local Weatherman release their new single ‘Weighing,’ the second preview of their upcoming EP Right One, arriving January 16, 2026 via Karol Records. The track continues the band’s evolution while highlighting their emotionally charged indie-rock sound.
On ‘Weighing,’ Local Weatherman lean into grit, urgency, and layered guitar work. The single balances melody and distortion as lines like “Weighing down on me / The fantasy” cut through the track’s thick, pedal-driven textures. Built from an original idea on classical guitar, the song now unfolds with dreamier tones, dense layering, and a raw sense of searching for clarity.
Songwriter and guitarist Ford Murphy says:
“‘Weighing’ is about feeling lost and recognizing that things need to change. This song started out on classical guitar and evolved into something much dreamier once we started playing it together as a band. When we recorded this song we probably laid down 40 tracks of guitar, and tried to lean into a more layered, guitar-pedal-y vibe while still keeping our sound.”
‘Weighing’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
